"How To Be A Great Teacher" - {reflection for forum}

Bismillah hirrahman nirrahim....first of all, thanks to my God because with His blessing and help, my class have done an exciting forum that entitle “ How To Be A Great Teacher”. In this reflection, I will stress about the main point of our forum such as the method to produce a great teacher, the qualities of a good teacher that we want and the abilities of teacher which can attract their children’s attention.

Institut Pendidikan Guru

            From our first panel, Nurul Atiqah, she explained about the procedure to make a great teacher. She said, before becoming a good teacher, a person will be trained in teacher's institute or UPSI. In my opinion, Teacher's Training Institutes train their students better quality than the teachers from UPSI. That’s because, in this institutes they have teaching more about pedagogies which enhance pre-services teachers in teaching skills. Furthermore, they also learn subjects like children development, curriculum theories, teaching strategies and so many other subjects that related to our requirements of the ministry of education. This trainee’s teachers also should go for teaching practical. With this teaching practical, they can apply education theories and teaching strategies to real students at school and experience from this practical activity are more effective.

            On the other hand, the second panel member, Nurhafizu Adha talked about the qualities of a good teacher. A great teachers need to masters of their subject matter. They exhibit expertise in the subjects they are teaching and spend time continuing to gain new knowledge in their field. With that, students will respect their teacher at school and show their interest in our teaching and learning lessons. Apart from that, we as a teacher also need to teach our students by their potentials and level of learning. This skills is known as interpersonal intelligence. When we know our student’s ability, the achivement of teaching and learning objectives become easy and our lesson become meaningful.

            The third panel member, Khairul Nizam described the teacher’s ability to attract students. Firstly, the importance of having good communication with our students should we learn. It’s mean, great teachers need to form strong relationships with their students and show that they care about them. Teachers with these qualities are known to stay after school and make themselves available to students who need them.       

In conclusion, this forum has achieved objective and provide many benefits to all involved. Now, my friends and I already know a bit how to become an excellent teacher. All the knowledge we get from this activity we will practice and applications while in school later. “Excellent Teachers, Outstanding Students”. InsyaAllah…
